Heavyweight cotton is built to last, but how you wash and dry it makes a big difference to how it looks a year from now. Here's the routine we recommend.
Washing
- Turn garments inside out to protect the outer surface and any print.
- Wash in cold or lukewarm water with similar colours.
- Use a mild detergent and skip bleach — it weakens fibres and fades colour.
- Choose a gentle cycle for hoodies and sweatshirts so the fleece stays soft.
Drying
- Line-dry in the shade; strong direct sun can fade deep colours like black, maroon and midnight blue.
- Dry heavy pieces flat or folded over a line to keep them from stretching lengthwise.
- Avoid high-heat tumble drying, which is the main cause of shrinkage.
Ironing and storage
Iron on a medium setting with the garment inside out, never directly over a print. Fold heavyweight pieces rather than hanging them — hangers can stretch the shoulders of a 350 GSM hoodie over time.
